(Received June 22, 10.15 a.m.) WASHINGTON, June 21. Admiral Robinson, chief of the Bureau of Engineering in the Navy Department, has been granted retirement as rear-admiral, following the “teapot dome” decision. He had approved of oil leases granted by Messrs Denby and Fall, and has since been passed three times when promotion was going round. —Sydney Sun Cable. LONG CASE ENDED. NEW YORK, June 19. A message from Cheyenne, W voming, states that the lease of the Mammoth Oil Company on the “teapot dome” naval oil reserve was held to lie legal bv Federal Judge Kennedy in giving a decision in the Government suit seeking cancellation of the lease on the ground that it was obtained by Mr Sinclair from Mr Fall, then Secretary for the Interior, through fraud and conspiracy. In a lengthy decision, comprising 2000 words, the judge ruled that the Government had failed to produce evidence sufficient to nullify the lease. The decision ends a long _ political controversy on litigation arising from Mr Fall’s action in leasing the oil lands to Sinclair’s Mammoth Oil Company and is rendered three months after the attorneys had argued the legal and highly technical aspects of the lease before Judge Kennedy. It was generally conceded Mr Roberts and Mr Pomerene, the Government counsel, were at a disadvantage during the trial through the refusal of Mr Fall and others to testify on the grounds that they might incriminate themselves, also through the absence of other witnesses.
