BIG CONSCIENCE MONEY.

SUM OF £460 IN NOTES. The Sydney city treasurer, Mr. Solomon, found in his letter box one morning recently a closed envelope on which was printed by hand in Roman characters the' following words: "Money owing to City Council.” On opening the envelope he found inside three £IOO notes, two £SO notes, one £2O, and some notes of smaller denominations, making a total of £450. Mr. Solomon said that he could form no idea as to who had sent- the money. He could not trace an item for this amount having been wiped off by the City Council as an irrecoverable debt.. The largest single amount he had ever 'previously received anonymously was £SO. ' *
