The entomological conference, at which Sir Joseph Cook represented the Commonwealth of Australia, concluded to lt’ resolved (1) that the guaranteed revenue of the'lmperial bureau, which i« ia- department of the Colonial Ounce, should be £13,000 annually, of whicn fill 700 should: he oontt.nbutahle by the Dominions and Colonies; (2) that the bureau arrange for exportation to the Dominions and: Colonies ot benevolent parasites at an estimated cost cl £ll4O annually; (3) a senior officer of the bureau to visit the Dominions and Colonies and to consult with entomologists. The chairman pointed out that whereas- the United States spent a quarter of a million on entomological research, Britain, with workl-wicle Dominions,’ was spending only £13,000. The South. African delegate, Mr. Lonnsbury, appealed to the Australians to search for tv parasite to destroy goniphiniis scattelatus, which was playing havoc with African eucalyptus, though .its ravages in Australia are negligible.—Aus.-N.Z.
