POSITION IN OTHER CENTRES
ALL QUIET AT HANKOW. V Y CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received June 20. 11.45 a.in. PEKING. June 19. Ichang ,students are promoting an anti-foreign; strike. Kiukang Kuling and Ohinkiang are quiet. At Nanking the position is imeertain. Much suppressed excitemen t necessitates continued precautions. There is considerable unrest which is jeopardising the position of British. Americans and J apanese. Reports from Hankow state, that the Chinese authorities at Ghungkiang allowed the strikers; to get out of hand. Many foreigners took refuge on gunboats. Foreign telegrams, from Hankow speak of the riots in Chungkinag on Wednesday as though the acute stage of the trouble had passed, and the absence of further wireless news from the Chunglriang naval division endorses this view.—Reuter.
