OKAIAWA AND TUKAPA.

To. the Editor.

Sir, —“Critic’®” letter just (amuses me. It as quite evident that .he is still sore over paying his shilling on Saturday last to >see what he terms “a very indifferent display of junior football,” so he must vent. his. displeasure on someone or something, and he singles out the Okaiawa Club. The Okaiawa Club is quite prepared to supply the names of its sick and injured pita yens to the Taranaki Rugby Union, and can produce evidence that only one member of the Okaiawa team, F. Atkins, was present, at Waverley, and he was not selected to play against Tuka.pa, as. he bad. a. horse racing at Waverley, which .surely was sufficient ’•eason for his presence at the meeting. “Critic’.s” unfair attack is on a par with the action of the Tukapa Club, in refusing a postponement, when it knew we were “up against- it.” It had all the facts placed before it. and had. to choose between a forfeit by Okaiawa or a possibility of a beating when, the teams met later. In the circumstances Tukapa. forced Okaiiawa to forfeit. I might say that the Taranaki R.ugby Union wais easy over the matte? - , and left it entirely in Tukapa’s hands to. postpone o.r not. If “Critic” has any further comments T hope he will ■sicrn. his name, as tany .sport, would. —I am, etc., T. HOULAHAN, Hon. Sec. Okaiawa. Club. r The wording of this letter 1 lias been slightly modified in its references, to the Tukapa. Club.—Ed. Star.]
