‘ GENERAL SCHEME WANTED

Mr. NosworESv. to ask for a subsidy to enable herd testing to be made general. It was stated that an increase of 101 b in production per cow would mean an extra million, and u the average could be increased from 1801 b to 2501 b. which could be done in six years, six millions more would come into the Dominion. . , Mr. Grounds, chairman of the Dairy Control Board, supported the application. The average production in. New Zealand was 'stated to be 1781 b, against 2481 bin Denmark. Herd testing was now applied in a number of countries. The amount of Is per cow was suggested as the sum the Government should Minister gave a sympathetic reply He said that finance was the deciding factor, but he wou'ld go carefully into the question and see what could be done.
