An unexpected development has occurred in a dispute which has been in existence ,since November last between the maritime unions and the Hunter River Steamship Company. As a result of a conference between the unions it has been decided to-declare ‘black’ the company’s vessel Hunter, which is at present in Mori's dock for overhaul. The effect of the decision was that wjie-ri the members of the Painters and Dockers’ Union were called on to perform certain work on the vessel they refused to do so.
