IN MAN AW ATU
TWO BIG FIGURES PAID. Wilt'll the exception of a few animals sold a.t the sale on, behalf of ■several -well-known Manaw'atu -breeders at, Palmerston North yesterday, prices showed a general fall. A number of Taranaki breeders were present, and they secured one of the h-i-gh-puiiced animate, Mr. Triiby King huyincr the five-year-old- cow Violas Golden Fern for 210 guineas. The big price of the .sale was secured by the five-year-old cow A iolu’-s Queen Besii, which wept to the bid of Mr. W'. T. W&lliiwnris. of Hawke’s Bay, at 500 guineas. These two were da lightens "of the well-known bull, Viola's Golden Lacldie, bred by Mr. G. H. Bell of Oakura. and they were both bred by Air. E. Griffiths. The heifers submitted by Mr. R. C. Horn, of Ohau, who has taken many prizes at Taranaki shows, were sold at an avei-ao-e o-f 45 guineas, while stock purchased in 1923 by Air. J. J. ATein from John Hate a.t big prices realised a great deal less than was -paid in 1923.
