THE GRAND, TO-NIGHT. BUCK JONES IN “WINNER TAKE ALL.” Tn “Winner Take All,’’ commencing at the Grand Theatre to-night, this William Fox attraction, starving Bock Jones, is all action —prize-fights, plungers, spenders, parties, and fast roadsters; the last word in luxury blended with the grim realism of the prizering- The story , gives Buck Jones the greatest scope of his career for displaying old and new talents. Buck does isunerhly "Ids old western stun, and at the asme time he flashes a brand new lino, as a ‘‘busted” cowboy who battles his way to heavyweight championship honours; then lie is beaten hv the fast pace of the Big City; loses-the A. i .he thinks lie madly loves to a millionaire; then makes a great comeback in a great screen fight, with a senastioiml prize knock-out finish. Lovely Peggy Shaw plays opposite Buck." and among other notable screen favourites in the cast are Edward Hearn, Lilyan Tashman, William Norton Bailey' and Ben Deelev. The supporting films will include Pox News. “Li Hi tiling Brice,” Fox comedy, entitled “Bine Blood,’- and a very fine educational, “The Dancing Girls of India.” Prices are as usual.
R.S.A. BALL. TO-NIGHT (WEDNESDAY). Elaborate preparations for the returned soldiers’ annual ball, to be held in the Winter Show Biddings this evening, have been made by the large committee, including members of The Women’s National Reserve and R.fe.A. enthusiasts who are organising the function. Attractive decorations vid form a fitting setting for the caimval spirit which should prevail, while m providing for the floor, music and supper- appointments nothing has been left undone which will ensure that tonight’s entertainment will uphold worthily, if it does not eclipse, the standard of excellence for which the event has heen noted iu previous years. Intending patrons may anticipate an occasion replete with enjoyment, and it is to he hoped that the efforts of the committee "will bet> rewarded with a big public support. Additional interest will be given by the presence of members of the Australian Ladies Pipe Band, who subsequent to their performance this evening will he the guests of the R.S. A. at the ball.
