Recently the Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes; who holds office in Mr. Coate’s Ministry, was reported as having expressed an opinion in favour or fusion. “I have not,” said Sir Heaton yesterday, “stated my views with regard to fusion. What I did say was that the papers wou’d lead one to suppose that the Reformers were in favour of fusion, the Liberals were m favour of fusion, and the Labour Party was*in favour of fusion. I did not say L was personally in favour of it. We do not know what is in the mind of the Liberal Party, and the Reformers will not say what is in. their minds until they know the minds of the Liberals.”
