Mr Edward Cross, secretary of the United States Lawn Tennis Association, announced that William Tiideii has obtained -release front the clause in his contract with a newspaper syndicate requiring him to report the national tennis championships and the Davis Cup matches, thereby making him available for the coming international competition. Tilden will get first consideration for appointment to the American team to defend the Davis Cup in September.
ANDERSON’S PROSPECTS

Sporting Life says enough has been seen of Anderson at Beckenham to justify the belief that be will recover the championship at Wimbledon fo.r Australia. in spite of French opposition. Not onlv is his forehand as forceful as ever, but his backhand seems more severe. No longer can he he described as a one-stroke player.
