The weather bureau reports that the hot dry weather that cut the winter wheat crop by overt 25 per cent, to the Ist of June has since clone, more damage by prematurely developing the unfilled heads in many parts of the West, causing premature harvesting in Oklahoma,, Southern. Kansas, Missouri and Indiana. Widespread' rainfall over the north-west last week saved the ■spring wheat crop, which was menaced with entire destruction by a drought. Texas and the rest of the south-west will'face a loss of stock and field crops, excepting cotton, duo to the drought, which is continuing unabated over the great plains regions..
