Speaking in the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister. (Mr. Bruce), referring to the late Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey,, characterised him as essentially a democrat, and one of the finest representatives which modern democracy had l produced. To his country Mr. Massey had left a long record of public service, and to future generations an outstanding example of Avliat a man ,of character and capacity might achieve by the pursuit of high ideals. The House adjourned for an hour as a mark of respect. The Senate also carried a resolution of sympathy to the widow and family of Mr Massey.
