Students to-day are holding: monster demonstrations, compelling carts, rickshaw's, and other vehicles to carry antiforeign literature. The Foreign Office has requested the Italian senior Minister to advise the legations that their nationals would be wise to avoid the demonstrations. It is understood that the Minister replied that if the Government had any doubts as to the outcome of demonstrations it should prohibit them. —Reuter. ATTACK ON LOYAL WORKERS. PEKING, June 9. Chinese merchant volunteers tried to incite Chinese workers at a Belgian mill, which is on Chinese territory, to strike. The workers refused, and a quarrel ensued, in the course of which Chinese volunteers fired on the workers; killing one and wounding several. —Reuter.
