The three-masted -schooner Maroro arrived at Gisborne on Saturday night forty-five days out from Newcastle. The shin left Newcastle on April 23, and encountered a succession of gales. The steering chains were carried away on May 10, and the mainsail, lower topsail, inner jib, rudder and chains again on May 22. The foresail was carried away on May 30. The following bookings have been made for the Opera House during the next few weeks: —June 16 and 17, the Australian Ladies' Pipe Band; June 29, Fisk Jubilee Singers; July 1 and 2. “The Green Goddess” ; July 8, J. C. Williamson’s Company, “Wildflower” ; July 14, Messrs E. J. Carroll’s Kaai’s Hawaiian Troubadours; July 16, H-a-wera -Orchestral Society; July 22, Sir Harry Lauder and company. The Paramount Company has also engaged the Opera House for a five-night season for the production of “The Ten Commandments,” the'dates for which will he announced later.
