A SHOOK TO GERMANY. DEMANDS RIDICULED. BERLIN, June 6. Authoritative political circles are of opinion that the Allied Note displays complete 'misconception, of the extent of Germany's, disarmament. It i-s ("stated the conception that Germany has formed an army in proportion to her papulation is entirely opposed to the flart-s. Nevertheless the Government is prepared immediately to carefully examine Hhe Note, remedy any failures, and carry out its obligations. It is emphasised, however, that Germany cannot go- beyond the loyal interpretation. of the-' Treaty of Versailles. The Government's one aim is to secure lasting peace. The Note unpleasantly shocked Germany, according to the official spokesman, who l Said the Government regarded the sitna-t-ino most pessimistically. He added that the demands were most ridiculous and trivial, and no doubt some would be rejected. The spokesman- was sarcastic in his reference to the Allies demand for the abolition of policemen’s -steel helmets, which lie said were not a menia.ee to the peace of Europe.
