MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB.
OPENING OF SEASON. The Hawera Miniature Bifle Club’s range was officially opened for the 1925 season by Dr. Buist last night. Mr H. Collier (president) said it gave the committee great pleasure to open its fourth year and to have the .club still going. The last year had been very difficult to carry through owing to -lack of public interest. Ho emphasised the point that each member should endeavour to bring to the range as many new members as possible. The committee was very pleased to welcome a number of members from Manaia.
Dr. Buist, the club’s patron, in a few well-chosen words said he hoped to see the club contest against representatives from other centres in the coming season as it had done in the past. Its record was good, for it had suffered few defeats, but he hoped in the future it would heat its past record. The club had a splendid range which was very well conducted, and he wished it the very best of success. He then formally declared the range open and fired the first- shot of the season — a dead centre hull.
A competition was held during the evening, and resulted, in a tie between All’s Hawkins and AHss Ingram. In the fil'd-off Airs Hawkins won the match. • ...
