ONE WHITE MAN.
AMONG 200,000 NOMADS.
“A TOUGH LOT.” If the right man can be found for the job, the long-expressed wish of an important nomad tnbe in Persia, numbering about 21)0,(J00, will at last be granted. Ten years ago the chief of the Kashgais begged that a missionary might be sent to his tribe. Nothing lias yet been done, mainly because there was no. doctor to go. The. request came as a great .surprise, for, as far as was known, missionaries bail had no previous contact with the Kashgais. The tribe, however, would not *et grass grow under their feet, and a group of them, a few months later presented themselves at the Church Missionary Society’s hospital at Isfahan, ami renewed the invitation. Dr. Carr and Mr. (now Bishop) Linton decided to visit the tribe, and receive.! a warm welcome. Again tho request was made' for a European doctor and teacher to live with the tribe. Now" a generous friend has offered fin an coaly to support a doctor among the tribe, and the O.M.S. is asking for volunteers. “It will, of course, need someone able to rough it,” said an official of the society, “for while very friendly the Kashgais are a tough lot, and will be quite a handful for one man. “But; here is a. real chance for a, man strong mentally and sound in health.”
