RUGBY AND TROTTING.
STRATFORD A. AND P. CARNIVAL
The King’s Birthday (Wednesday, June 3) is the day chosen for the holding of the Stratford A. and P. Carnival and, judging from the programme arranged, a very large attendance of the public is expected. A combination of trotting and football is an entirely new departure in sporting events, and is a warranty that there will he no dull moments. Excellent fields have accepted for the trots and, as they are being held on the show ground oval, the public will be able to see every phase of each race. Entries for the primaryschools’ seven-a-side football tourneyhave been received from all parts of Taranaki; the friendly rivalry, which exists between the schools competing is a guarantee that spectators will be treated to a bright and clean display of the game. With the large number of teams competing, a commencement will be made at 9.30 a.m., and the first trotting event will start at 1.30 p.m.
