The handicaps for the Farmers’ Trot and also for the Consolation Handicap, wilt be declared on the ground. The first race will start at 1.30 p.m.
A sal? of some importance is advertised in this issue by the Farmers’ Coop. Organisation on behalf of Messrs Cramp and Johns, to lie held at Pukengahu. on Friday next. The herd comprises 115 head of Jersey and jersey cross cows, mostly young and August culvers. The cows are particularly good dairy types, and should be well competed for. In addition to the dairy there are about 50 head of wenners and in-calf heifers, and a. large selection of implements, which are in good order.
A point was raised by Mr John Forbes at the meeting of the committee of the Eginont A. and P. Association 011. Saturday as to whether the Association could insure against had weather for the show. It. Was, however, generally considered that, the cost, would be too great., and it. was left, for the secretary .(Mr M. C. Crigliton) to secure all information on the subject.
At Hawera school committee meeting last week it was decided to forward a . recommendation to the Education Board, urging that, the school be opened a. half hour earlier in fflie morning and close a corresponding time earlier in the afternoon. This was in an outcome of the decision of the householders at their meeting about a month ago.
