ON THE EAST COAST.
HEAVY RAIN RECORDED. (BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GISBORNE, June 1. Heavy rain has fallen in the east coast districts, interrupting the traffic. Ruatorea is at present isolated by road slips. For the 48 hours ended 9 a.m. to-day, 8J inches of rain were recorded at Ruatorea. In crossing a flooded stream north lof ;Tokomiaru (Bay, a coach was carried over two chains clown stream before getting across.
