Cabinet Ministers generally are hopeful that the Government’s position will improve as the court progresses. Capt. Chaffey’s seat is safe. Mr Lang asserts that Labour will have 46 seats in the new Parliament, also that it 'has a splendid chance of gaining two others. The party would therefore be in a position to form a Ministry independent of all other parties. , The Herald forecasts that tlie final result will be: Labour 46 seats, and anti-Labour 44.
