CLEANING NICKEL PLATE.

Nickel-plated articles sometimes show an unaccountable dullness that is not readily removed hy polishing; which, too, may strip off the plating. A simple way of cleaning nickel-plate is toi nib the article over with cottonwool soaked in methylated spirit containing i to i ounce of sulphuric acid to every pint of spirit. After a few seconds wash the article in clean water, rub over with spirit containing no acid, and polish with a soft dry cloth. This method, according to an overseas authority, will give lirillianee to the dullest nickel-plate without fear of harming it. It is. of course, assumed that the nickel-plate to he treated in this way, though dull, is sound and unbroken.
