BALL
The plain and fancy dress halt organised by the Hall Committee and held on Friday last was, despite adverse weather conditions, well patronised with an assembly representative of all parts of the district. The committee had spared no effort to ensure the success of the function, and the general results should be very, gratifying to the promoters. An enjoyable programme of dance music was rendered by Sharpe’s Orchestra, and with the assistance of Mrs AV. Seed, Miss Mabel Guy and Mr Rex Larsen, who played the extras, dancers were well catered for. Alessrs R. Guy and O. Bootten had charge of the programme, and the supper arrangements were in the capable hands of a committee of ladies.
A large number of those present attended in various costumes, and the judges. Mr and Airs C. Paterson, selected the prize-winners as follows: Ladies, first prize Airs P. N. Petty (Spider Web); gents, first Mr R. West (Sheik) ; girls, first Miss Mabel Guy (Starlight), second Aliss Norma Thomas Alount Egmont), third Miss Jean Thomas (Petty’s store); boys, first Edgar Guy (Swagger), second Alex. Seed (Dutch Boy), third Gordon Cole (Goblin). Special prizes donated by Air and Mrs Paterson were awarded to Miss Joan Thompson (Kewpie) and Colin Cole (Cupid). Others who promenaded were Alesdarnes AA r . Seed (Spanish Ladv), G. Wilson (Miss Old World), and A Robertson (Night), the Misses Hooker (Dutch Flower Girl), L. Hoskin (Colleen), G. Alichelson (Spanish Girl), F. Seed (Carnival Bells),i Freathy (Quakeress), and L. Hudson (Sunrise),; Messrs B. Cole (Tramp), R. Guy (Pierrot), AI. Brown (Tennis), AV. Guy (Swagger), J. Gernoffer (Crossword Puzzle), and O. Bootten (Pierrot): Misses Dolly Seed (Danger Signal) and Bessie Seed (Spring). EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. At a meeting of the Hall Committee, held on Tuesday evening, it was decided to open the series of euchre parties and dances on Friday, June 5, cards to start promptly at 8 p.m., with a long night dance to follow. Air K. Sharp will supply the music.
