Sir James Allen (High Commissioner for New Zealand) returned horn Gallipoli by the Ormonde. He said upwards of three hundred passengers visited Ohanli Bair for the unveiling of the New Zealand memorial to the dead. , ' r TT Sir James considered tnat Mr. Hurst Seager, the New Zealand architect, who designed the memorial, had selected the most suitable site. The memo,rial is visible for miles around, and seen from the Dardanelles was most effective as the sunlight gleamed on its side projections. The contractors had constructed the memorial with the greatest care. . . The .Lone Pine and Helles memorials were also imposing structures. Sir James Allen visited many cemeteries and placed wreaths on many graves, which are beautifully kept in peace! ul surroundings. . . General Sir Alexander Godley s «.d others ascended the crest of Achi Baba and were impressed with the impregnable position which the Turk® held during the, defence of the Peninsula.
