Lack of public interest in the Pihania Domain Board and the Public Cemetery Board of Trustees caused the meetings called to fill vacancies caused by the effluxion of time to lapse for want of a quorum. The Mayor (Mr E, A. Pacey) has received a telegram from the GovernorGeneral’s private secretary in response to an invitation forwarded by his Worship to his Excellency to visit Hawera on the occasion of the Winter Show at the end of next month. The message was as follows: “The Governor-General directs me to inform your Worship that it is with great regret that he finds himself unable to accept your kind invitation to visit Hawera on .Tune 30th.
