The Kiksdag, by substantial majorities, agreed to the recommendations of a Parliamentary committee substantially identical with a.. Bill submitted by the present Labour Government in. February, providing for a transitional period, after which the annual cost of ail Sweden’s defences will amount to ninety-six million kroner, a,s compared with 181 million in 1914. _ The recommendations provide that the army may he reduced to twenty regiments of infantry, four of cavalry and seven of artillery. The navy and air force will not., be altered at present, but the naval programme will be reconsidered in 1928.—Reuter.
