Following the cremation at Golders Green, the ashes were conveyed to Wellington barracks, where they lay in state. The public were admitted until nine o’clock. There was a long queue of all classes, including the “Old Contemptibles,” business men, workmen, women and children. Inside the chape) four Guardsmen with arms reversed stood motionless at each corner of the bier. Genera] Joffre arrived at Victoria station and attended the service in Westminster Abbey. There were also twenty-five poilus, in the familiar grey-blue uniform and steel helmets, who will march in to-day’s procession.
