William Fox special Western® picture screening to-night at the Opera House ancl to-morrow evening at the Grand. He appears as Dave Deering, a happy-go-lucky wandering prospector. The story moves with intensified action, with many realistic scenes, one vivid feature being a forest fire. The supporting films will include a. comedy, Fox educational, a Hews reel, and the 13th chapter of “Lightning Bryce,” serial. The Lyric Orchestra will be heard in many bright selections.

VISIT OF FAMOUS ARTIST. That Hawera playgoers are looking forward to the visit of the famous stage and screen actor, Mr. Thurston Hall, who, together with an exceptionally powerful J. C. Williamson Ltd. supporting company of English, American and Australian artists, are to appear at the Opera, House, Hawera, to-morrow evening, was manifested at Mrs. Cooke’s sweet shop yesterday morning, when there was a great rush for seats when the plan was thrown open for the unique comedy production, “So This Is London,” which is to. be presented for the first and only time here. “So This Is London” is described as a comedy of real laughs, which is called forth by humour of the most excellent kind With which this famous play abounds. It is a sustained humour in addition, for the many laughable situations follow each other as closely as a marching regiment. In this play Mr. Thurston Hall has not made the mistake of “starring” with an ill-balanced and incompetent support. On the contrary, every character is admirably taken, and his own splendid work is heightened thereby. The play is in the nature of a skit, in which the American criticises tlie Britisher, and the latter makes due response, the honours being fairly divided between the combatants. Thurston Hall, as the wealthy American, shows himself one of the world’s supreme comedians, wh© brings out the humorous fancy of an American’s idea of the English in a way that cannot but be appreciated and enjoyed. In addition to Miss Gladys Webster and Mr. Tlitirs'ton Hall there is a splendid supporting company. The secenery, properties, wardrobe, etc., will, arrive in Hawera this evening i n charge of the firm’s chief mechanist, Mr. Leslie Davis, so as to ensure that everything will be in complete readiness for the performance to-morrow evening. The plan is now on view at the theatre, sweet shop.
