DISPERSAL SALE.
MOITMAHAKI STATE FARM
SHEEr AND’ PIGS.
It is considered that a record in some respects in clearing sales was effected yesterday at. the dispersal sale of sheep and pigs and the sale of implements and effects «t the Maumahaki State Farm. Motor-cars lined the roadside outside the farm "for a long distance, and buyers were present from many parts of the North Island. They simply overran the grounds, and estimates of the number vary from 700 to 1000. There was a great list, to get through, so that the bidding was pushed along. The amount of selling don© can bo realised when it is known that nearly six hundred' lots were put through, and the rate of selling was about 90 ‘to 100 per hour. This is great going. v and must be about a. record, and 7s a tribute to the work of the auctioneer for the Farmers’ Cooperative Society 7 , Mr C. G. Trotter, who conducted the sale. Mr Trotter did*the great bu'-k of the work. There was keen competition for the By-e----land stud sheep, rind they were secured by breeders in lNorth Auckland, Waikato. Wnirarapa, Manawatu, and other districts. The pedigree pigs, for which the farm has been well-known, also sold well. The success *of the sale will be gratifying to the popu'ar manager, Air j! W. Deem, and to the Department.
