LABOUR’S CAMPAIGN.
GAUGING -PUBLIC SENTIMENT. GOOD RESPONSE IN HAWERA. With a view to ascertaining what measure of support is likely, to be accorded a Labour candidate, in Hawera during the forthcoming political campaign, a meeting of the Hawera- branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held .last evening. V The matter was fully gone into and it. was considered that the response was most encouraging. Mr. W. Nash, national secretary for the Party, was present and addressed the meeting, and stated that by the end of this month 45 Labour candidates will have been selected. The Party was out to' contest- every possible" seat for the Dominion." Mr. Nash also reported Upon the support ■ that was forthcoming in other parts of New Zealand, specially mentioning the good reception he -had received in New Plymouth.
It is stated that the quesfion of choosing, a Labour candidate for the Patea electorate will rest with the two branches (Patea and Hawera) and the affiliated industrial organisations in the district; /
