MANAIA.
(From Our Own Cor respondent.) FOOTBALL. Manaia and Okaiavva Juniors palyed at Manaia on Saturday, and arter a real good exhibition of football on both sides, Manaia were victorious by 20 points to nil. For Manaia, Billy King scored three tries, H. Sutton, A. Langford and Griffin one each., one of which was converted. Mr J. Christie* gave every’ satisfaction as referee, Manaia Thirds and Patea also played at Manaia. The game was very even right throughout, and play was of a high'order. Patea won by 9 points to 7. For Manaia, L. Hansen scored a try, and I>. Broomfield potted a beautiful goal. Mr H. Badley refereed t,h© match to the .satisfaction of both sides. Ka.puni School heat Manaia Convent by 13 points to 9. MISSION. St. Patrick’s Church, Manaia, was crowded to the utmost at 11 o’clock mass on Sunday, also at 7 p.m. evening devotions, to hear Rev. Father W. G. Gill, C.S.S.R., who.' has opened, a week’s mission in Manaia. Rev. Father Gill is considered to be one,of the finest and most forcible preachers of the order. He will preach, every evening during the week, as well as in the morning services.
