The British Empire Shopping Week was inaugura-ated by a gathering of the British .Women’s Patriotic. League, at which the Colonial Secretary (Mr L. S. M. Amery) lectured on Empire trade. He said the most hopeful sign in our economic difficulties was the fact that the women were waking up to. a consciousness of their power in developing the Empire. He appealed to women to make a determined effort when shopping to ascertain whether they were purchasing Empire goods.— Reuter.
