OTAKEHO.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

A v-ery successful balj was held in the hall on Wednesday. May 20, by the hall society. About 100 couple# -were present, visitors coming fiom Manaia. Hawera, Kaponga, Auroa. and Opunake. One and al] thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and expressed their intention of returning to like functions in the future. The music, supplied by the well-known Serenaders, of Hawera, was favourably commented upon and thoroughly enjoyed. Extras wore played by a number of ladies and gentlemen. The supper arrangements were in the hands of a capable ladies’ committee, which spared no pains to see that the inner man was well catered for. The floor was in excellent order and added considerably to the enjovment of the evening. The duties of 'M.C/s were capably carried out by yfesprs \Y. Svmmans, W. Grindlay, and L. Mudford. To the ladies’ committee the hall .society is greatly indebted and desires to express its sincere thanks and appreciation.
