iiY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPY RIGHI MELBOURNE, May 24. In dull, showery weather the English soccer team defeated Australia by live goals to nil. There was an attendance of 12,000.

Play was fairly even in the first half, but England’s superior training gave them the advantage in the closing stages. The snore at half-time was England one, Austraia nil. The goal scorers were Spencer, Timms, Hannaford, Batten and Seymour. The Australian goalkeeper, Robinson, was excellent. Rain affected the play during the latter part of the match.
