BUT WERE DRIVEN OFF. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received May 23, 8.50 a.m. NEW YORK, May 22. A, case of attempted lynching was reported from Texas. Tivo brothers,. Frank and Lorenzo Noel, negroes, confessed that they killed Ryan Atkins and assaulted a wonia ll compa-nion.. A mob of five thousand people stormed the gaol gates. Thirty shots were exchanged, ancl one man was killed.
Seventy-five police and firemen, armed with machine-guns, is hot-guns, tefir bombs and a fire hose finally clis-pe'n-ed the attackers. —Sydney Sun Cables.
