TAX.ES ON MOTOTJ, VEHICLES
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION--COPY EIGHT, Received May 21, 12.30 a.in. BERLIN, May 20. The Minister of Economics said that the duties on motor-c-ars and tractors were of a special character, because foreign manufacturers enjoyed an extraordinary start over the German motor industry, therefore tine duties on imported motor-cars would be higher than duties on other products, tins amounting to about 350 reichsmarks per vehicle. These duties would bo reduced bv half-yearly (Stages to a normal tariff* The same procedure would be followed for a gradual reduction of duties on tractors. With regard ,to Customs duties on chemical products, which throughout amount .to under ten per cent, ad valorem, the G overmen t’s proposals provided for the lowering of these in return for compensating advantages. —Lieu te r.
