FARMERS’ UNION CONFERENCE.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I wish to make, an explanation so as to prevent a misunderstanding which I am sure will arise from a perusal of your report of the Farmers’ Union conference. lam reported as saying that the name “Taranaki” in the wording would kill the remit under discussion, but my qualifying remarks were left out. The position is that remits that are passed at the Dominion conference are matters of importance to the Dominion-, as a whole, and remits pertaining to local matters are dealt with by the Dominion executive and brought before the Minister concerned in the matter. Remits with, the name of the province in the wording are not favoured by tile Dominion conference, being looked on as parochial. Thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etC "' R, DUNN. Auroroa, May 20.
