Cabinet has approved of proposals for Keeping the number of officers in the permanent defence force up to the required level. Since 1920 nine have beUn appointed, and the number now on duty is six below the establishment. Four commissiqjrs will be offered at once to those Duntroon cadets who were retrenched. Two commissions have been reserved for warrant officers, and will be awarded to. the men who passed the highest at the recent examinations for first concessions. Future requireriients will be met bv .sending New Zealand, bovs to be trained at an English-mili-tary college, three going in 1926.'
