LONDON WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house under date of the ].4tli ilist. : “Wool sales closed active, with good competition for nIL good wools. Continental buyers were the principal operators in. merino, and there was good demand from the home trade for crossbred. As compared with last sale’s, closing rates for merino wpols, greasy were 3d to -Id Lower, scoured 4cl to Bd. lower; half bred, greasy 3d to od lower; crossbred, line quality od to 7d lower, medium and coarse od to 6d lower, scoured od to I'd lower; slipe w'ools, 6d to 8d lower; lambs’, 4d to od lower. Of the 69,000 bales catalogued 43,000 were sold. 24,000 going to the Continent, 18,001) to the home trade. 1000 to America, leaving 115,000 carried forward, of which 90,000 bales have not been offered.”
SHEEPSKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW
Dalgety ami Cb. report as follows: Sheepskins.—ln sympathy with the decline in the wool market, dry skins depreciated 2d to 3d per lb for a.M descriptions. For a. nice line of line lambs we secured J3.UI. Sal ties were lower by 9d to 1/- per skin, on our sale rates. Hides.—Fair catalogues were brought forward, but.a- weaker market was met with, and prices for hea.l7weights of all descriptions show a decline of from ijd to ]tl per In. Mediumi and lightweights were lower ; }d and kip and yearling by T Jd to ;{d. Calf were in demand' and elicited keen, competition, prices being better by d, cl. on late rates. Tall dw. —blood coloured lines were enquired for, prices being slightly better, other loir-;, celling on a par.
