FOOTBALL.
SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. The fo’lowing will represent Hawera in the seven-a-side tournament at Mokoia to-morrow: —Murphy (2), Hammond, Mundy, Freyne, Patterson. France, and Laing. Car leaves Post office at 12.45 p.m. In conversation with a Star reporter, Mr W. A. Guy, of Matapu, who returned home last evening after having officiated at Wellington on the All Black selection committee, intimated that he considered t-lie representatives chosen to visit Australia would prove a strong combination and could be dep°nded upon to render a good account of themselves. Mr Guy explained that the task of discriminating among the many firstclass players nominated by the various unions had pr.oved exceedingly difficult, and had occupied the selectors throughout a sitting lasting for seven hours. The final selection had been mainly made from those who appeared in the 1924 trial games, and therefore a number of fine exponents of the code had to be excluded, even though they were deemed worthy of All Black honours. Mr Guy added that emergencies had been selected to fill vacancies which might occur prior to the departure of the team, but the names could not be divulged at present. The following wil l represent Waimate v. Manain Wednesday team to-morrow: Broomfield. Langford, Hughes, Parata, .Sutton (21 King Hansen, E. Snowden, Milner. Emergencies: Leydon, Griffin.
