HOSPITAL CHAIRMAN.
MR GILLANDERS RE-ELECTED At the ordinary meeting of the Hawera Hospital Board to-day, which was the first in the new year of the hoard, Mr F. Gillanders was unanimously re-elected chairman of the board. The motion of re-election was moved by 'Mr J. J. Meldon, and seconded by Mr J. S. McKay. In acknowledging the compliment, Mr Gillanders said that, considering all conditions, it was advisable to have a change of chairman so as to prevent the work getting into a groove. A different point of view was always useful. Mr Gillanders was urged by several members to retain the position, they stating that lie had taken such a leading part in the negotiations for the new hospital that they could not well do without him in the chair. They asked him to remain chairman at least until the new buildings were completed. In deference to these requests he consented to accept nomination.
