In the second spell England became ragged and their defence was sluggish, whale* the Australians played doggedly in defence l . Th© Australian forwards! were* weak, but Norman, at centre half, held Whittaker well. The Australians' secured a penalty goal near the end, and the final scores* were: England 4, Australia, 1. Ba-ttin obtained two goals and Whittaker and Eilkeis one each for England, and Gardiner shot Australia’s lone goal. ' Prominent on the English side were Bfittin, Graham and Charlton, and on the Australian slide Norman, Mitchell and Pilgrim.
