D'oghie, both general - storekeepers. The former building was owned by C. R. Baines and the latter by the occupant. Fortunately there, was no wind, otherwise the builk of the business portion of the town would probably have been destroyed. Boglne-’® stock was Insured for £IOOO and the building for £4OO and the furniiture for £SOO. ■Boil ace's furniture was insured for £2OO. The names of the offices were unavailable. ELECTRICAL STORM AT PARNELL. AUCKLAND. May 16. An electrical disturbance between midnight and 1 a.in. was felt severely at Parcel 1 , « where damage was done to many chimneys. In one house all the electric light switches were shattered. In Laurie Avenue lightning struck the house of the date Mr. T. Cheeseman : it took the top off the chimney, lifted the mantelpiece out of place, and destroyed part of a valuable collection of china and curios which had been donated to the museum. The room looked as if it had been visited by a mad bull. A resident describes the report as terrific. No personal injuries were sustained. .SUCCESSFUL WIRELESS TESTS’.
