ST. CUTHBERT’S OHTJROH
The annual meeting ol' parishioners was held in the Town Hall last Friday evening, when, notwithstanding the inclement weather, a fair number of church members attended. A very satisfactory balance*sheet was presented by the secretary-treasurer, Mr. 8. A. Greenhill. * . The vicar reviewed the work of the church during the past year and heartily thanked all who had helped in the various church organisations. The election of churchwardens and vestry resulted as follows: Vicar’s war. den, * Mr. C. AV. Abbott; people s warden, Dr. C. A. .Davies; vestry, Messrs Walter, Hammonds, Exley, Low, and Simmons; Supper, kindly provided by, the ladies, brought the meeting to a close. BRASS BAND. The fortnightly euchre, party and dance in aid" of the Manaia Municipal Brass Band will take place next Iniday night, May 22. The band’s orchestra of seven instruments will P ro ~ vide the music for the dance. Good prizes will he given for the euchre, and a first-class supper will:, also be provided.
The band, thirty strong, under Conductor J. A ” G. Cosgrove, played a first-class programme jjn the Rotunda on Saturday night. There was a large audience present. The playing of the band was favourably commented on. The organisation is making rapid progress towards efficiency.
