ST. MARY’S SUNDAY SCHOOL.

PRIZEGIYIN G. The service at St. Mary’s Church on Sunday morning took the form of a special children's service of thanksgiving, a service of thanks for the end of the infantile paralysis epidemic, and a special thanksgiving offertory by the children, which is to be given to the work of the New Zealand Anglican Board of Missions. The vicar preached a special sermon to the children, taking for his text those famous words of St. Paul, “Stand fast.” The vicar pointed out to the children that they must stand fast, be strong, and be straight. Taking as a parable the life of a pine tree, the vicar pointed out that “that which is strong is straight,” and exhorted the children to live strong, honest lives, as by so doing they would be straight straight in body and soul. Owing to the school holidays, and then the epidemic restrictions, it had been found impossible to hold the prizegiving for 1924 liny earlier, so this Sappy little function took place in the schoolroom immediately after church. Many parents and friends of the children were present, and the vicar presented the prizes. A special prize to the value of £.l Is was given to the member or the schools, boy or girl, gaining top marks in the yearly examination. This was won by Inez Wells.
