IvAPONGA club. ACTIVITIES RENEWED. Evidence of the support being accorded the efforts of the Taranaki Hockey Association to revive interest in the game was given last evening, when at a well attended meeting of members of the Ivaponga Club, which has been inactive since the close of the 1923 season, it was resolved to reorganise and to enter a team in the competition. Mr ,1. J. Davison (president), who occupied the chair, explained that th° meeting had been called to decide whether the club should! enter a team in the, Taranaki competition this season. He understood that two teams were being organised in Stratford, one in Eltham, and: one in Manain., while an eleven might also be expected: from Hawera, where a number of enthusiasts were keen on raising a team. In view of the visit to the Dominion of a New South Wales representative team this year and one from India in 1920, added interest would be attached to the ttompetitions, and the association naturally desired to see as many teams as was possible in the field in order to give the opportunity for developing the standard of play. He referred to the fine record of the Ivaponga. Club, which had won the Taranaki championship on four occasions. The club at present held the Taranaki Shield, the Catran Cup, and the Mackenzie Cup, the last, named trophy being won outright, and in one season the club had supplied ten of the provincial representatives. He was pleased to note the enthusiasm shown by such a good attendance at the meeting, and in conclusion strongly urged that the club should again take an active part in the game.
It was unanimously resolved to resuscitate the club and enter a team in the competition. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Air C. E. Betts; president, Mr J. .1.
