WEDDING.

HILLS—SOWERBY. A wedding of considerable interest took place on April 1, 1925, at St. Paul’s Church, Normanby, when Miss Alma Sowerby, only daughter of Mrs W. F. Mantle, New Plymouth, was married to Air Ashley Harcourt Hills, son of the late Benjamin Hills, Canterbury. The church was tastefully decorated bv the girl friends of the bride. The'Rev. H. W. Monaghan officiated, and Miss Elsie Laurent presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother. Mr L. G. Sowerby, looked dainty in a frock of ivory crepe de chine, finished with silver. The beautiful' tulle veil was held in place with orange- blossom, and hung gracefully to form the train. Miss Norah Lloyd as bridesmaid looked dainty in palest blue georgette over pale blue silk, with black picture hat. Both carried beautiful bouquets to tone. Little Beulah Laurent looked sweet as flower girl in pale blue crepe de chine, and carried a basket of pale pink sweet peas. Mr R. 0. Hills, Christchurch, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Later the young couple left by car for Auckland. On the eve of her marriage Miss Sowerby, who was organist in St. Paul’s Church, was presented with a silver tea service, and was also entertained at a “novelty” tea.
