AFFAIRS OF CRICKET COACH.
CREDITORS INDIGNANT. (by TELEGRAPH FRESH ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, May 7. As a result of au indignant meeting of creditors held before the Official Assignee to-day the case of Captain Frederick Thegplore Badoock, cricket coach to the Wellington Cricket Association, is to be placed in the hands of the Crown Prosecutor. Bankrupt’s assets were nil and his liabilities totalled £458 Is lid. In a sworn statement bankrupt expressed regret at causing loss to his creditors. He admitted lie had been very foolish. The circumstances and manner in which he had been brought up were responsible for his not appreciating the value of money. As he had no assets he could only throw himself on the mercy of his creditors in the hope that they- would appreciate his position. It was shown in the course of crossexamination that bankrupt had been buying superfine clothes and had purchased six pairs of trousers in five weeks. He also bought cocktail-shakers, Mali Jong sets, and a large number of books.
Regarding the purchase of a gramaphone, it was suggested that he had attempted to sell it, though he procured it on time payment, hut this Badcock denied in his statement. His salary of £250 per year was small, and he understood the Cricket Association was to find . him some part time employment. They had not done so. nop had he been able to obtain any himself. He also anticipated receiving some assistance from his father, hut was disappointed. During the examination it appeared that there were other claims coming in from England, and the bankrupt also admitted having raised a number of small loans privately, which lie had declared in his statement.
