HUNTING

A most successful mid enjoy a hie meeting was held on 'Wednesday,. M n;\ G, on the property of-Mr A. Gamlin., Katipokontii. The hounds, with .Huntsman Miles in command, led off from the homestead, and after a very line run “puss” was scented and led the followers over some good" country, eventually resulting in a kill on the river bank. Several other hares were put nil, but after some very fine runs no other kills resulted.

Among the straight-goers were Huntsman Miles on Keriwha, DeputyMaster .1). Crocker on- White Rein, Norman Crocker on Glainniki. A. Mitchell on Dingle Pride, A. Bayliss on Still Going, F. Atkins on Prince Paul, IT. Crocker on Tofim, IT. L. Spratt on Montana, A. .McCracken on Matapu, J. Bryant on 'Hazard, S. Cleaver on Passing By, Conway on Price, Eric Allan on Dexter, W. Williams on Sell Pride, McGuiuncss on Take All. GTwidle on Willing but Won’t. W. Grindlay on Chyrcn. Jos. McCarty on Captain Dick. Major Melville on Silent Dick, Jim McCarty on Public Works. Crawford Watson on The Hawk. Mrs Gamlin on Princess Dolly, and Mr Danilin on Starlight. The followers in motors had some verv fine views of the dillcreiit runs, viz.—Mr E. Gong and party. Mr S. McKay and party, Mr J. Mitchell and party. Mr Scanned and party, Mr Massey, and party, Mr Hessill and party, and Mr H. Vine. After the finish of the day’s sport the visitors were entertained at afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs Gamlin, which was much appreciated by all present. Before dispersing Deputy-Master D. Crocker, on behalf of the visitors, thanked Mr and Mrs Gamlin for their hospitality and generosity in allowing them to hunt on their property, and also expressed the pleasure of all present in seeing Mr and Mrs J. Mitchell 'at their opening meet. He also wished to state" that the next meet, which was to lie held on Mr Moulds property at Okainwa, would probably lie cancelled, and the meet would he held at Mr Jas. Young’s property. Sutherland road, instead. Mr Meuli s property would most likely not lie available <>n that date. Mr Gamlin returned thanks <m behalf of Mrs Gamlin and himself, and expressed their pleasure at having,.the meet on their property, and stated that a welcome would he always ox tended to the club to hunt over thei“ property. The visitors then dispersed, everyone voting it a thoroughly enjoyable clay’s outing.
